A lifetime of teaching. A love of sport.
And a belief that every child has a story worth cheering for.
Born and raised in West Chester, Pennsylvania, William H. Young Jr. brings a lifelong love of sport and teaching to children’s stories.
He studied physical education and health at Campbell College from 1967 to 1971 before beginning his teaching career in the West Chester Area School District in 1973. He spent 45 years at Penn Wood Elementary School, retiring in 2018.
Along the way, he coached soccer, ran baseball and soccer clinics, published physical-education activity guides and shared ideas at workshops. Helping children find confidence through play has been a thread running through it all.
Today, that experience takes an imaginative turn in Five Steps to Baseball Heaven and Copa’s World Cup Dream—stories where familiar sports equipment becomes a cast of characters with friendship to offer and big dreams to chase.
